Ombré Highlights

Hi, everyone! It’s Jessica, but everyone in the salon knows me as AJ. One of the great things about working at Pierre Michel is the amazing people that I get to work with and around.  Whether it’s a celebrity (shhh! We won’t name names), the creative director of a major fashion house or a CEO dashing in for a quick trim, I get to see these incredible people and help them look their best.

Sometimes, I even get to inspire our clients to take a risk and do something daring! Recently, I took the plunge and decided to change up my own look. For years, the most daring thing I’ve done to my hair is have the ends trimmed; if I changed my look at all, it was a very, very subtle thing. That fell by the wayside when I stepped out of my comfort zone and tried out the ombre hair color trend on my long, long hair. And I LOVE it. My hair is now a deep, rich chocolate brown at the roots that fades into cinnamon tips past my collar bone.

The other day, a new client sits in my chair and she’s totally in awe of my ombre hair! She even wants to try it for herself. She’s been a brunette her entire life but, just like me, decided to switch it up and make a big, big change. After 45 minutes, my masterpiece is finished, and we both love it. She was so happy that she sent a few of her friends to Pierre Michel so they could revamp their hair color, too!

It feels good to inspire and create change. It might be scary, but it can be amazing! I feel really honored that my example led to a positive change in someone else’s life. Let’s all work our hardest every day to inspire good things in this world! Sometimes, it’s just as simple as doing something for yourself… and letting others follow your lead!

Check out the new hair trend, ombre highlights in the pictures below….

The “Safe” Alternative to Brazilian Blowout

Keratin treatment, also known as “the Brazilian Blowout”, is a treatment that recently created much controversy pertaining to health and safety issues and has been band from many salons because of safety concerns.  Even though these treatments have met OSHA’s guidelines, many would argue that the low percentage of formaldehyde emitted when flat-ironing may still be harmful to both stylist and client.

Edison Restrepo, of Pierre Michel Salon, strongly believes when this service is performed by a skilled technician, you can continue to achieve great results with no harm to the client’s health. However, there is one alternative that Edison highly recommends, the 4 Ever Smooth New Age Keratin Treatments. This treatment has virtually no smoke or fumes, contains five times more keratin (the protein that smoothes and strengthens the hair), takes only about an hour, can last up to 5 months and the client can shampoo his/her hair on the same day. The results of this treatment like the controversial Brazilian Blow Out, leaves the hair smooth, frizz free with body.

Edison also performs the Global Keratin Treatment with Juvexin. Juvexin revitalizes and rejuvenates the hair shaft. Juvexin, a natural derivative protein similar to the structure of hair bonds to the surface and with the help of the needed temperature from the heat of the flat iron creates the desired style. Having the choice of different strengths will help to create excellent results.

Edison Highly recommends the alternatives mentioned as a substitute to the Keratin / Brazilian Blow Out. The final outcome remains the same achieving similar goals. These treatments improve hair strength and shine, improve dry feel of hair, improves color retention of dry hair and the straightening of the hair reduces future breakage.

Edison is available at Pierre Michel Tuesday through Saturdays for any of the above “safer” treatments. Please call the front desk to make your appointment or consultation.
